BROKEN CAPILLARIES

Broken Capillaries

The Permanent Choice has two methods that can be used in the treatment of broken capillaries. Electrocoagulation, a specialized form of electrolysis, or BBL if the broken capillaries could be characterized as prominent sun damage or Rosacea.

During treatment cauterization of the blood vessel occurs causing it to be reabsorbed by the body. Treatments can be scheduled two to four weeks apart. Depending on the number or severity of capillaries present, clients typically require three sessions with maintenance treatments as needed.

What are broken capillaries?

Broken capillaries are commonly found on the cheeks, chest, and nose areas. These appear as small red / pink threads under the skin’s surface. Broken capillaries occur when the capillary walls narrow and widen too quickly causing the muscles in the walls to tear. This in turn allows the blood to seep out resulting in broken capillaries.

Common causes of broken capillaries include but are not limited to:

  1. Hot conditions
  2. Wind blowing on the face
  3. Burning i.e. sunburn
  4. Moving from one extreme temperature to another
  5. Pressure i.e. squeezing spots or glasses pressing on the face

Dehydrated, dry and sensitive skin types often have thin skin that provides less protection and therefore, this skin type is the most commonly effected.
